Paula's Patch: A Minnesota Garden

Come wander in; my gate is always open! Gardening / Birding

Visits from Red-bellied Woodpeckers April 11, 2011

We have regular visits from red-bellied woodpeckers, but they increase their activity come Spring.

The female is usually around most of the Winter. When Spring rolls around, the male also graces us with his presence. They are beautiful, large woodpeckers that eat our suet and also enjoy nuts and fruit.

Here’s a snapshot of the regal male at our feeder: red-bellied-woodpecker
