Starting Seeds Indoors March 25, 2011

Well, I finally got my seeds into the dirt! Been picking up various herbs for my kitchen garden along with a few flowers. For now I have them in an east window until I can find all the pieces to my fluorescent light…seems I only have the bulbs. Not sure what happened to the fixture!

starting_seeds_indoorsAre you starting any seeds inside this year? What are you planting?

Here’s what I’ve got germinating:

  • Italian herbs – flat-leaf parsley, pepperoncini, genovese and sweet basil, sage, rosemary, thyme
  • Flowers – morning glory, zinnia, sunflower

If you’re looking for seed starting supplies, Gardener’s Supply has kits with everything you need. Or you can find supplies around your house. You can use old cookie sheets as trays, egg cartons as seed pots and simple fluorescent lighting.  Here’s a link to my post on the Birds and Blooms blog with all the details you need for seed starting indoors.
