Second Round of Baby Robins July 7, 2010

Early on this spring, we saw robin’s eggs smashed on the grass in our lawn. I’m not sure what got to them, but I figure that late nester in the pine out front was from the pair that lost their embryos to some egg stealer!

We’ve been keeping our eye on the nest for a couple of weeks as storms rolled in and high winds blew through. The robin never left her nest except to stand up and stretch her legs occasionally.

The babies – 3 of them – are finally out and about. I was putting some plants in a container out front when I spotted this baby hanging out on my red metal lawn chair. She seemed unafraid of me and let me walk right up to her and snap a couple of pictures. I also have some video of when they were still in the nest! Check it out…
