Wow – I can’t wait to get outside today. It’s going to be near 60 degrees!!! And the sun is shinin’ already. Woohoo!
The yard looks like a train wreck! The snow came so quickly last fall we hadn’t even finished leaf cleanup. The rabbit has really hurt many of my shrubs and trees even though we took precautions. Oh, did I say rabbit, singular? Come to find out we had TWO rather largish bunnies chowing away. OMG!!!
You should have seen my husband and me last Sunday. We were coming home from a nice lunch with my daughter and future son-in-law. We walked into the backyard from the driveway and saw both bunnies lounging around like they owned the place.
Now, my husband, being the clever one and experienced in catching nuisance rabbits with his fish net, swiftly went into action. He quickly ran around the yard plugging all the holes under the fence (in the corners of the yard) and ordered me to my post in the sideyard. He said “I’ll chase them your way and you keep them there.”
So I grabbed the shovel near the back door and stood guard. When the rabbits scampered my way, I kept them “in play” while my husband ran over and coaxed them into his net. It was a sight to see! lol
He has this unique method of tricking the rabbit with one hand which makes them jump right into the net that he has in his other hand. I really wish I could have filmed it. And I REALLY HOPE my neighbors didn’t see us running around the mud and snow hollering at these stupid rabbits. It was quite a victory!
Now don’t get worried…we never have the heart to kill any animals. We simply live-trap them and take them to a place far, far away.
So ends the saga of our rascally friends until the next family shows up! And I’m sure it won’t be long… 🙂
Take a look at just a bit of the damage they’ve done –
